Growth and Questions
Going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to the garage makes you a car.
You can wear the cross around your neck, the “prayer warrior” shirt or even a “Jesus saves” cap. But they’re mere trinkets that give the outward appearance of something we want the world to see. They don’t, and never will, make you any more authentic than what is actually in your heart.
Through your heart (what you really believe about yourself, others and indeed God) your life will speak its authenticity to the world. Fruit.
We can do and say all sorts of things but the truth is in the fruit we produce. And that’s not to say we don’t have things we need to overcome or that we have attained ‘Christianese perfection’, but where you are right now is a direct reflection of what you actually believe.
Are you moving towards the light or away from it? Is life becoming more joyous or less? Are you living with peace or fear? Is your pride holding you hostage or is your heart bent towards growth? There are all sorts of questions we can ask ourselves, if we are interested in becoming that authentic Christ-like person.
We grow from glory to glory. We grow line upon line, precept upon precept. Our growth, in any aspect of life, should be a glorious thing. Like learning how to sit, stand, walk and run.
The things that make us authentic, in any way, are always within us. What’s in your heart? It is out of the heart that your life speaks.
Grow into the glory you were designed and created for. You’re worth it and the world needs it. ❤️
